Adopt a Highway Pickup
We had a crew of six on May 25, 2022, who picked up along Callawassie Drive on Memorial Day weekend. The road was not too heavily littered, and we disposed of six bags with approximately 65 pounds of trash. Carolyn, the person who records the hours involved in the pickup, totaled about eight including advertising for volunteers and disposal of the trash. I would say plastic bags as waste is down over the past year, but the beer cans are making up for the bags during the warm weather. We will attempt another pick - up prior to the 4th of July if the weather is favorable and there are enough volunteers. Callawassie residents and the Ecology Committee continue to promote the ecological health of the area in which we live.
