Youth Mental Health First Aid SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL SUPPORTS

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches a five-step action plan to offer initial help to young people showing signs of a mental illness or in a crisis, and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social, or self-help care. This training is offered as an eight-hour training, which includes activities to increase awareness and the learning process. Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is offering new tools to help people support themselves, their families, and their friends. YMHFA teaches a five-step action plan to offer initial help to young people, elementary age to 18 years of age showing signs of mental illness or in crisis or non-crisis situations and connecting them with an appropriate professional, Peer, social, or self-help care. Certification in YMHFA will practice physical distancing while helping your community support those in need no matter your role. CE Credits: Desert/Mountain Children’s Center, provider # 131660 is board recognized as an approved continuing education provider (CEPA) for Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Educational Psychologist the by California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. This course meets the qualifications for 7 hours of continuing professional development credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs. Participants must attend entire 8 hours of training (must sign in at the beginning and end of the training day) to receive continuing education credit. (7 hours of CEU’s is for direct instruction time, does not include meals and other break times). Desert/Mountain Children’s Center maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content. There is a $25 fee for CE Credit.
