It is with great pleasure and pride that we present the 2023 annual report from the Medical Library team.

This report not only highlights our achievements over the past year, but also showcases the novel and innovative ways our library team has supported the important work of clinicians and healthcare professionals. Our team is dedicated toward providing seamless access to evidence-based information for patient care, policymaking, education, and/or publication purposes.

Most importantly, the information needs of our users are at the center of everything we do.

Best wishes for the new year from your medical librarians and the Medical Library team!

Library Support for Clinicians and Healthcare Providers To assist clinicians, nurses, and allied health professionals learn how to access evidence-based practice information, the medical librarians offer tailored orientations and instructional sessions that cover how to locate and retrieve high quality resources and studies. Clinical Resources This year, the medical librarians identified, procured, and curated additional online resources to support the practice of evidence-based medicine (listed below). Furthermore, the librarians also made clinically useful journals accessible from the One Search portal.

Many hours were devoted toward the research and selection process of making available full text journals from the Ovid collection.

New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) peer-reviewed publications • Artificial Intelligence (AI) • Catalyst Innovations in Care Delivery • Evidence • Guideline and Journal Watch (all specialties) For drug information, the addition of Sanford Guide, a point-of-care resource for the treatment of infectious diseases is highly used by clinicians and pharmacists.

Educational Resources The Medical Librarians became a curricular partner with the continuing medical education teams at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center, Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, and Sacramento Medical Center by providing bibliographies on implicit bias for a variety of topics and specialties to support the requirements of the AB1195 cultural and linguistic competencies. In addition, the One Search Portal includes a comprehensive listing of continuing education resources provided by Sutter Health, One Search - Discover, and free options available on the Internet. New Instruction Menu The Medical Librarians developed a new instructional offering called “5 - Minute Librarian Consults”. Users can explore the full range of available customized training or instruction opportunities. A simple request form enables selecting the type of instruction desired and in the format that is convenient.
