YEAR IN INDUSTRY A Year in Industry is an opportunity to spend a year in employment during your studies, and is available to undergraduate students studying Economics degrees at the School of Social Sciences. It will provide you with invaluable experience in the real working world and will help you develop a range of skills which will make you an attractive candidate for jobs after graduating.
Our Year in Industry degrees are four-year degree programmes, where your third year is spent working in industry.
The 12 month placement is a credit-bearing (worth 120 credits), assessed part of a 4 year degree programme. This means that your performance on the assessment and completion of the placement will have an impact on your final degree classification, just as a year of taught modules would.
OUR EMPLOYER LINKS INCLUDE
During my 2nd year, I took advantage of the resources the team provided to help assist in securing a placement. I also knew that if
required I would be able to go and talk to the team at any time for support. During my placement year, I was contacted monthly by an Employability Coordinator from the team and this helped me to maintain my link to study and connection to the University. The placement improved my organisational skills, and increased my confidence, as well as gaining experience and knowledge of what a professional environment feels like and how it works.
