Another year has come and gone!
I would like to thank you for being with us in the year 2022. We want you to look back at all the milestones we have achieved. We accomplished green status on our Security, Engineering, SFS, and Fire Life Safety audits. This would not have been possible without your commitment and hard work. However, we missed out on achieving key metrics in our BSC which would have helped us to reach higher ranks. We are looking forward to an exciting 2023 and to challenge ourselves to reach new milestones in our journey. We have many exciting initiatives and practices to unfold with energy and enthusiasm. Our teamwork will reflect in our achievements, whether it is guest or colleagues' engagement and financial results. Let us uphold the principles to care for our people, and customers, and doing good for the community.

Shangri-La and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi
We are delighted to welcome Amritaksha Chatterjee, Director of Revenue Optimization at Shangri-La and Traders, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.
He has 23 years of experience in hotels and joined the Shangri-La Group in 2011 as the pre-opening Director of Revenue Management at Shangri-La Hotel, Mumbai.
Amrit has worked with Shangri-La properties in Muscat and most recently as the Cluster Director of Revenue Optimization for both the Sri Lankan properties in Colombo and Hambantota. In his new role, he will be responsible to drive the revenue culture and formulating business strategies for both properties in Abu Dhabi.

We are honored to be a part of the rich and old tradition of “The Dragon Boat festival” since 2008. After the pandemic everything has been changed, our team had to start from scratch as with many new colleagues. Our Paddlers ‘never give up’ belief ensured that they practiced twice a week (even during summer months) for the competitions. We are proud to announce that our Shangri-La Dragons were the winners of the Dragon Boat Abu Dhabi – Community Plate event held in March 2022, Corporate Cup Bronze Award in Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival Dubai, Corporate Plate Winners and Corporate Cup Bronze Winners in Dragon Boat Festival Abu Dhabi - October 2022. Congratulations to our Shangri-La Dragons for winning 4 trophies in 2022 and making a statement in this most prestigious event in the UAE.
We thank all our dragon boat paddlers for their Compete to Win mindset.
We are looking forward to our next Dragon Boat festival in 2023.
Shangri-La and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi came together to celebrate the festival of lights in an auspicious way.
“The beauty of Diwali is in the Rangoli. ” Our Colleagues participated in the Rangoli Making Competition and created such Beautiful Rangoli designs which indeed brightened up everyone's evening! A host of mouth-watering delicacies was served during the event to showcase the festive spread to our diverse team and music from the sub-continent was played by our in-house DJ throughout the evening.
Our Executive Pastry Chef Manoj Lasantha was an integral part of the award- winning Emirates Culinary Guild team at ‘EXPOGAST Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup’ held in Luxembourg from 26 to 30 November 2022. Manoj proudly brought home a total of 3 gold medals under the Pasty Art categories, winning 2 medals for his Petit Four Plated Dessert and 1 for his Wedding Cake display.
Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts were honored to receive the Silver Award for Best Hospitality Management Company of the Year at The Hozpitality Excellence Awards 2022 ceremony celebrated on the 16th of November 2022 at Arabian Ranches Golf Club in Dubai. Our colleagues Vivek Srinivasan and Rey Capon attended the event and received the award at the ceremony aimed to recognize top hospitality industry organizations in the Middle East & Africa.
Shang Palace and specialty Vietnamese restaurant Hoi An made to the final list of restaurants to be featured in the debut edition of the Michelin Guide Abu Dhabi 2023. Ahmed Issa (General Manager), Nikolaos Tsimidakis (Executive Chef), Borja Molina (Director of Food & Beverage) and several members of the culinary and food and beverage team attended the glitzy event held in November. They were the proud recipients of Michelin-issued plaques to commemorate this landmark achievement.

SLAD & THAD Annual Colleagues Party 2022
A much-awaited night where we danced, dined and had a blast.
SLAD and THAD rang its annual colleagues' party with a raffle draw, departmental dance performance, fashion show and not to forget delicious dinner and DJ entertainment. We held the LONG SERVICE AWAD CEREMONY to recognize our colleagues working with Shangri-La and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, and show gratitude for their years of unwavering service to the Shangri-La group. It was a magical evening for all the 59 colleagues celebrating 5, 10, & 15 years of long service and they were recognized for their commitment and dedication towards the group.

A magical season at Shangri-La and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi was celebrated with a heart-warming Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. Guests and colleagues enjoyed cheerful carols and season-inspired refreshments in the true spirit of the holidays in the Lobby Lounge of the hotel.
We hosted a Fun Day event at Salma Children’s hospital, Abu Dhabi to create colorful joys of life for the little ones. The ho spital provides specialized medical care for chronic or post-acute illness or disability.
25 Volunteers from the hotel participated in fun and engaging activities like face painting, balloon, and rope games and interacting with the parents of all the children and hospital staff. We brought special cupcakes, popcorn, and ice cream from the hotel and shared our love with all of them. No event is complete without music and to make the gathering a special one to remember, we had a musical performance by our team which indeed cheered up all children.
We were all humbled to play a part in caring for and supporting the children and healthcare workers at Salma hospital and look forward to our next visit soon.

Shangri-La and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi were excited to host the stay of Zaid Zamrik , a ‘wish child’ and his family as part of Shangri - La’s collaboration with Make-A-Wish International. It was a pleasure to create a memorable experience for Zaid and his family. The whole team put hands-on practice preparing everything for his arrival and giving him a warm welcome. Zaid’s suite was decorated with flowers, balloons, and a special sport -themed cake, Zaid's favourite hobby. He was also presented with a gift by the Shangri-La Team. After the warm welcome he was surprised with a basketball game with Shangri-La Team at the beach, followed by a special dinner. On the next day Zaid and his family were invited take an Abra boat ride along the winding canal of the Qaryat Al Beri complex. This experience was closed with a fantastic signature brunch at Sofra restaurant, just before Zaid and his family’s departure from the hotel. Shangri-La and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi is proud to continue supporting Make-A- Wish International in granting the wishes of brave children around the world, where the sky is the limit, and we hope this experience was as memorable for Zaid as it was for our team.
Shangri-La Al Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi hosted the Tiger Tea Party in collaboration with Make-A-Wish UAE, which grants the wishes of critically ill children. We introduce a luxury handcrafted Tiger Toy by Plaay? at a themed afternoon tea with fun activities for children. Our colleagues volunteered in the event by participating and conducting activities like face painting, and drawing, and had fun interacting with all the children.
