O * Net Interest Profiler Facilitator Notes O * Net is on-line tool to help students explore careers that match their interests and anticipated education level. Follow these steps to support students in accessing the tool and analyzing the results.
Students will select the types of careers that fit their interests by selecting a Job Zone.
Students learn about Job Zones with the links on this page, and select their preference on the next.
Students can click on each of the jobs on the list within their preferred job zone to learn several details - including example job duties, and the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the career. Students can explore the "job outlook", "personality , " and "education needed" categories to gain perspective.
Students will select the types of careers that fit their interests by selecting a Job Zone.
Ask students if they learned anything new about their interests and opportunities from this activity.
Ask students if anything they learned surprised them.
Students can use these takeaways to inform their choice to select either the Academia or Career cohort .
