College earns top marks for employability

South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is in the top 10 per cent of higher education institutions in the country for student progression into employment or postgraduate study. Data from the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education study over the last three years shows that 98.6 per cent of the college’s graduating students are in employment or further study. The College offers competitive tuition fees, as well as flexible study options and a supportive environment, meaning more and more students are able to benefit from its varied courses. Joanne Priest, head of higher education recruitment and student experience, said the college was delighted with the grading. “This is testament to the continued dedication of all our staff and their commitment to ensuring students reach their full potential,” she said. Meanwhile, SGS has been named as a centre of excellence for the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, for the 12th time. The college received the accolade for a number of factors, including high recruitment across Levels 3-6

and industry-experienced teachers delivering high- quality provision. The performance of students, who consistently achieved above benchmark success in exams, also contributed to the award. Head of professional and financial services, Debra Bennett said: “We are thrilled to be awarded the CIPS Centre of Excellence again. “It highlights the experience and commitment of the CIPS team to ensure learner and employer needs are met." The College has successfully offered the CIPS provision Level 3-6 for 25 years and will be extending this offer to include the Associate Project Management qualification (PMQ) in the very near future. The department, Professional and Financial Services, was graded outstanding in the most recent Ofsted report and praised for the quality of its provision.
