CONTRACT SIGNED FOR £5MILLION FOREST OF DEAN MEDICAL CENTRE A Gloucestershire-based building firm has been chosen as the lead contractor on a new £5million medical centre in Cinderford. Speller Metcalfe, who are based at the Gloucester Business Park, will start work on the Valley Road medical centre, with a target for completion set for summer 2020. The new centre will replace the town’s existing health centre, which currently houses the Dockham Road Surgery and Forest Health Care. Dr Ingalill Sandys, a GP at Dockham Road Surgery, said: "We are delighted and really excited that our plans for a contemporary, new health centre are moving forward. BEER BREWED BY STUDENTS HITS THE SHELVES A beer brewed by an enterprising bunch of Royal Agricultural University students is now on sale in three Gloucestershire branches of Waitrose. Muddy Wellies Ale was the brainchild of students in the RAU’s Entrepreneurs Society, who teamed up with a local brewer to sell the tipple in the Cirencester campus bar. Now brewed by Friday Beer Company, it is available in a number of small outlets in the county, thanks to a deal with Craft Drinks Co, and that caught the eye of buyers atWaitrose. Muddy Wellies Original Ale now appears on the shelves of Waitrose in Cheltenham, Cirencester and Stroud. MANUFACTURER SOLD FOR MORE THAN £4MILLION A county company which markets itself as the UK’s leading position sensor manufacturer have been sold for a deal that could be worth £4.6million.

Andoversford-based Positek has been acquired by multinational firm discoverIE, which also paid up to £11.6million for US electrical component designer Hobart. Positek has been trading for more than 25 years and, with the expertise and access to wider

markets, all 12 employees are transferring over to the discoverIE group. Nick Jefferies, group chief executive of discoverIE, said: “Both companies have long-established track records of supplying high quality products into their respective markets.
