the awakening of an adolescent

A s Summer mellowed into Autumn this year there were, as x \ .n e v e r before, unmistakable signs of a transformation on the West Coast. It was like the delightful experience of an adolescent awakening into adulthood. Millions of new people had poured into the West and the flow was continuing unchecked. All around there was bustling evidence of a country doing its best to keep up with the new demands of its growing population. On the educational level authorities were predicting record- breaking attendance, with no slack in sight. At the Bible Institute of Los Angeles everything was moving on schedule in that school’s $3 million new campus campaign. Biola officials announced that a kick-off drive for the new campus is scheduled to take place in mid-September with Evan gelist Billy Graham (see “People”), and this is to be followed by a month of prayer. School President Dr. S. H. Sutherland indicated that he hope;s Christians everywhere will join in this month of prayer to ask God’s help in raising the needed money to construct the new 50-acre campus in suburban La Mirada.
