LES CUPR APPROUVENT LE BUDGET DÉFINITIF POUR 2026

Après trois tentatives et révisions, les Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell ont approuvé leur budget définitif pour l’année prochaine. Lors d’une réunion extraordinaire tenue le 10 décembre, les maires du conseil des (CUPR) ont voté en faveur de l’adoption du règlement 2025-54 pour la troisième FUEFSOJÍSFWFSTJPOEVCVEHFU&O réponse à une question posée par cour- riel, la directrice des finances des CUPR, Valérie Parisien, a souligné les difficultés rencontrées par son service pour préparer un budget acceptable cette année pour le conseil des comtés. « Cette année, le personnel des comtés a travaillé avec diligence pour maintenir le niveau de service des comtés tout en faisant face aux incertitudes liées à l’ouverture de la Résidence Prescott et Russell, a déclaré Mme Parisien, tout en reconnaissant les défis auxquels sont DPOGSPOUÊFTMFTNVOJDJQBMJUÊTMPDBMFT&O réponse, nous avons procédé à d’impor- tantes réductions budgétaires afin d’allé- ger la pression sur nos partenaires, tout en veillant à ce que la qualité du service reste intacte. » La version finale du budget 2026 des CUPR s’élève à 203 723 400 dollars. Ce
montant comprend 30 714 500 dollars consacrés à des programmes et projets d’immobilisations. Le budget préliminaire initial présenté au conseil des CUPR en octobre s’élevait à 234 077 800 dollars. Ce montant comprenait 30 741 900 dol- lars pour les besoins en immobilisations. L’augmentation du taux d’imposition pour le budget 2026 est de 5,05 %, au lieu de l’augmentation de 5,62 % prévue la part provinciale de l’impôt, ainsi que ceux pour les districts scolaires et autres organismes locaux et régionaux, comme MB$POTFSWBUJPOEFMB/BUJPO4VE RVJQSÊ - lèvent des impôts fonciers dans le cadre de leurs recettes budgétaires annuelles. Les administrations municipales locales sont chargées de percevoir les impôts fonciers, puis de répartir les différents montants entre les autres organismes. expressed interest in annexing specific parcels of land located within Champlain Township, east of the boundary between the two municipalities that is 106.42 hectares of woodland that is adjacent to residential areas north of the gas station on County Road 17. In exchange for allowing annexation of these lands to Hawkesbury, Champlain Township will get access to Hawkesbury’s water and sewer services for a specific area of 138.7 hectares in size located on the south side of County Road 17. Access to these services would allow future commercial development of that area. “This agreement comes at no cost to our residents and opens the door to new oppor- tunities that support sustainable growth while respecting the needs and realities of our community,” stated Mayor Robert Lefebvre of Hawkesbury. “This agreement in principle marks a decisive step forward for Hawkesbury and our entire region. Both mayors indicated that the MOU and the future formal agreement will benefit both municipalities and “ensure the region remains a vibrant, healthy, and economically resilient place to live, work, and invest.”
The mayors of Hawkesbury and Champlain Township announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) “that streng- thens the partnership between the two municipalities and paves the way for future growth and service improve- ments in the region.” The MOU is the result of several years of discussions involving the undeveloped borderland between Hawkesbury and Cham- plain Township along County Road 17. The MOU sets out the guidelines for negotiating a formal agreement between Hawkesbury and Champlain Township that will help encourage future commercial development of the areas.
