Nitro Knockout
S ince technology moves forward, one-time dragstrip warriors that have been sitting ignored for decades are living on with a purpose far beyond what they were originally built for. This year the “Nitro Knockout” warriors will include the AA/FD "Nitro Syndicate" recreation of a Woody Gilmore dragster owned by Larry Wolyniec. Larry has a long history in the Nitro racing categories with the Chicago-based Funny Car team “Chi-Town Hustler” and others. Larry and local rodder/racer
Dave Huber are the principals behind the Street Rod Nationals Nitro Knockout and a highlight will be Larry’s AA/FC Fuel Coupe ’34 Ford, a black and flamed masterpiece. Rob Stewart owns SpeedMaster and his AA/FD will fire up on Thursday through Saturday at 11am and 2:30pm to massive crowds gathered near the entrance to the South Wing of the exhibit hall. The true spirit and bravery of these early racecar drivers really comes to light when raw horsepower belches from the zoomies!
