Road Warrior
In 1964 the City of Louisville Fire Department advertised for bids on a tractor-drawn, 100-foot aerial-ladder fire truck (TDA). The Seagrave Corporation was the successful bidder delivering a 1966 Seagrave 100-foot tractor-drawn aerial (TDA) quartered with Engine 15 and the 3rd District Battalion Chief located at 1328 S. Preston Street, a very busy company in the southern portion of downtown Louisville,
Kentucky. Firefighters gave the truck the nickname “Road Warrior” as an indication of the truck’s ruggedness and dependability. In 1998 the Louisville Fire Department declared the truck as surplus and Rick Albers, formerly with the Louisville Fire Department, bought it. Under his ownership the Road Warrior has been a part of many events including parades, tailgating at football and baseball games, kids’ birthday parties, weddings, funerals and 9-11 memorial events. The Road Warrior along with other emergency vehicles will be on display at the 56th Street Rod Nationals in 2025.
