1 st Mobile Bay Street Rod Nationals

T he 1st Mobile Bay Street Rod Nationals held June 28-29 had the NSRA staff traveling to Mobile, Alabama, early to make sure everything was set at ‘The Grounds’ (home to the Greater Gulf State Fair) to receive hundreds of rumbling street rods, customs, classic cars and pickups, plus performance street machines for two days of “Fun With Cars” NSRA-style. For a two-day show quick registration becomes even more important so the capable crew of Annette and Mike Harbin, Lesa Seibel, Michelle Chopin, Diane Miller, Janet Adams and Craig Wolf from the Host Club Pharoahs speeded things along. Thursday evening the Spotlight Builder for this inaugural show, Metal Brothers Hot Rods, hosted an open house and Francisco Murillo and his team made sure they had a wide variety of their builds in the spotlight. Everything from a Swap Meet and Women’s World to Safety Inspections and Streets of Rods were being held while other awards were being picked leading up to Saturday evening. Danny Potter put together a nice display of

A/Gas and Pro Street cars while Kay Staggs hosted

a Ladies Tea for 112 ladies with generous support from Sanderson Headers. The Southern Brushslingers raised over $5,000 for the Abba Shrine for Children in Mobile. Ed and Michelle Chopin coordinated the Games and a Coloring Contest and Kay Staggs put together a Quilt Display. “The Mailman” livened things up at the Saturday evening Awards Program and, just like a three-day event, Super Prizes were given out and three lucky rodders won $2,000 each in the $weep$take$ Giveaway. With all this action packed into two days there’s every indication we’ll see you all June 20-21, 2025, for the 2nd Mobile Bay Street Rod Nationals.
