ARTIST NOTES: ‘Cattle Grid’ bears many of the hallmarks seen in my Spring work; rich, luxurious backgrounds created by applying thick layers of texture paste and bold oil colour using a palette knife, which I then embellish further with glazes, gems, glitter and iridescent shimmer gel. The humorous tongue in cheek title is unmistakably a Shotton trademark!”
“
If my pieces make people smile, then I have succeeded, because that is always my
overriding intention.

ARTIST NOTES:
“For children, I can imagine the thrall of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party… With lots of delicious treats, no need to sit up nicely or observe the usual social niceties, and with all manner of madness going on in the background, it is every child’s dream!”
Craig Davison imagined worlds of children; there are no limits, no restrictions, no rules and anything is possible. “ ” As always, I derive inspiration for my collections from the

Boxed Canvas | 39” x 48” Edition of 50 | Framed: £995
ARTIST NOTES: This painting is a close copy of Monet’s of the harbour at Le Havre called ‘Impression Sunrise’ – the painting that gave its name to Impressionism. It is the balance of cool and warm tones from a very restricted palette that makes the painting work so well. I love it.
“
This is a classic example from the ‘less is more’ school of painting. The detail of the boats in the busy harbour is missing, but imagination fills in the gaps.

ARTIST NOTES: “In the age we live in, it has never been more important to remember and take responsibility for the fact that thinking, creating and writing have more influence on people and events than the use of force or violence.”

ARTIST NOTES: I guess my inspiration has been a personal need for progression as an artist, and I’m really happy with the results so far. Orange Dawn is my favourite piece from this collection. It really opened up my eyes as to what is possible going forwards with these new methods of painting that I’m experimenting with. I’d have loved for this original to be hanging on my own walls. It was sad to see it leave, but also exciting that many others will get to enjoy it in their homes.
“
Over the last six months or so I have been experimenting with ideas to take my work in a new direction, whilst still retaining the core style for which I’m known.

ARTIST NOTES: “Night time in the city” is a mosaic of six individual pictures. Together, I wanted the paintings to describe a busy and exciting adventure in London. London after dark is an enthralling playground, and a night in the city is a multi-sensory and multi-faceted experience which I hope the collage brings to life.
For me, this quote says it all:
“When a man is tired of London, he is tired of Life”

NIGHT TIME IN THE CITY Boxed Canvas | 36” x 52” Edition of 95 | Framed: £1,150
ARTIST NOTES:
All the pieces use bronze/copper/metallics and black and white colours to create a sepia palette.
Brooklyn Jazz / New York Brooklyn is well known for its jazz scene, so I have incorporated this influence with the Jazz man in the right corner. In all of my paintings, perspective plays a key part. Here the Empire State Building is framed perfectly by the Brooklyn bridge. Chez Francis Here we see people take shelter, sipping red wine under the canopy of the famous corner café, whilst watching the comings and goings of commuters at the nearby metro. Angel of the South / London An atmospheric, moody sky prevails. The vignette of the scene drawing us in to the focal point - the statue framed by two iconic red buses. Passers-by dodge the rain showers, shopping till they drop.
“
I’m a keen photographer and take a lot of black and white shots everywhere I go. Some of the shots are pre-meditated and some are totally spontaneous.
