EQUINE WELFARE AT CHELTENHAM RACECOURSE E very single member of our team is committed to providing the absolute best in equine welfare. Our focus is to provide industry- leading facilities and to continuously invest in equine welfare initiatives and improvements across both Cheltenham Racecourse and wider Jockey Club Racecourses. This work is identified and managed by a panel of experts including vets, racehorse owners and Jockey Club employees. VETERINARY PROVISIONS
Personnel and equipment for each race day:
◆ A team of specifically qualified equine vets led by Senior Veterinary Surgeon Liam Kearns.
◆ 2 x Vet Nurses, based at the stables and on course.
◆ Horse Ambulances with specialist drivers, 2 on all race days increased to 3 at the November Meeting and 5 at The Festival.

◆ A Farrier at all race days, with two in attendance for all race meetings from October to April.
Our veterinary team care for the horses from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. During each race, vets follow the runners and are able to respond to any incident as quickly as possible. Veterinary Surgeon Ian Camm is based in the stables throughout the race day.
