Apprenticeship Employer Guide

In order for your business to make the most of an Apprentice, you must have: • A work-based Mentor to be able to support the Apprentice’s skills development in the workplace • A job role that provides the opportunity to learn the skills that the Apprenticeship requires Contractually, you must commit to: • The Apprentice having a contract of employment for the duration of the Apprenticeship with a minimum of 30 hours per week Insurance with a minimum of £5 million • Allowing the Apprentice time to comply with the 20% off-the-job training • Pay the Apprentice a minimum • Having Employers Liability of the Apprentice minimum wage, and national minimum wage in the second year of the Apprenticeship if they are aged 19 years or over
