The Circular Design Metrics will enable brands and retailers to compare DS Smith’s different design solutions, helping them to reduce waste and pollution and keep materials and products in use for longer, DS Smith stated. Additionally, the Circular Design Metrics supplies brands and retailers with data that can be shared in their ESG re- porting to demonstrate what they are doing to reduce their carbon footprints. DS Smith released its Circular Design Principles in 2020 in collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, and the company said all of its 700 designers have been trained on how to apply the principles to design packaging solutions for the circular economy. In addition, DS Smith said it has a goal to manufacture 100 percent reusable or recyclable packaging by 2023. PureCycle, Mitsui To Cooperate In Japan Florida-based polypropylene (PP) recycler PureCycle has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ja- pan-based Mitsui & Co.
