The Recycling Partnership Continues Feet On The Street The city of Norcross, Georgia, plans to begin checking and tagging curbside recycling bins for contaminants to im- prove the quality of recycling in its single-stream curbside recycling program. The city is participating in Feet on the Street, an initiative developed byThe Recycling Partnership, Falls Church, Virginia. The initiative will provide residents in Norcross with personalized and real-time curbside recy- cling education and feedback. For four weeks beginning September 13, a team of trained professionals will go around Norcross neighborhoods be- fore recycling trucks run their routes to check residents’ re- cycling bins and carts.According to The Recycling Partner- ship, these professionals will leave a tag on bins or carts if they see anything that does not belong in the city’s curbside recycling program. The Recycling Partnership reports that Feet on the Street has helped residents in several cities already, including At- lanta, Georgia; Chicago, Illinois; and Denver, Colorado, and other major cities to improve their recycling habits.The na- tional nonprofit said the program is designed to increase the amount of quality recyclables in curbside bins and carts. Feet on the Street is funded by a $15,000 grant from the nonprofit, with remaining costs funded by Waste Manage- ment and the Sustainable Norcross Commission through the city of Norcross.
