DON’T TRY TOO HARD

While being safe is a recipe for failure, trying too hard is also a no-go. Write in a way that’s authentic to you and your life. All of us want to be cool, but avoid the pitfalls of slang and jargon. Write the way you’d speak in real life. There's nothing wrong with having some fun and being self-aware. But if you're trying to take a culture-shortcut, people will sense it right away. So be yourself and don't try too hard. Avoid using terms that won’t stand the test of time like: lit, swag, no cap, deadass etc.
