3 ways to support Canada’s veterans year-round

On Remembrance Day, Canadians across the country commemorate the brave men and women who died in the line of duty as well as those who cur- rently serve in the armed forces. Howe- ver, your recognion doesn’t have to be limited to November 11. Here are three ways you can support Canadian veterans year-round. 1. DONATE TO A REPUTABLE CHARITY There are a number of charies, inclu- ding the Poppy Fund, VETS Canada and Wounded Warriors Canada, doing cri- cal work to empower and support vete- rans from coast to coast. Donang even a small amount to a reputable organizaon can help improve the cir- cumstances of those who risked their lives for their country. 2. VOLUNTEER ATA ROYAL CANA DIAN LEGION There are more than 1,300 Legion branches across the country. As Cana- da’s largest veteran service organiza- on, the Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) offers outreach and assistance pro- grams for veterans and their families as well as community services and sup- port. Volunteering at your local Legion branch is a great way to make a real dif-

ference in the lives of those who ser- ved. 3. VISIT AVETERAN IN YOUR COMMUNITY Veteran Affairs Canada (VAC), in colla- boraon with the RCL, runs an inia- ve that facilitates face-to-face visits with veterans in rerement and long- term care facilies. These visits provide social interacon and a sense of com- munity to individuals who may not otherwise receive many visitors. Spen- ding me with a veteran can have a major impact on their life as well as your own. This Remembrance Day, know that Canadian veterans need your help year-round, and consider taking steps to offer your support.
