put buyers and sellers together for used corrugated ma- chinery. But I think for all of us, the most important thing is that we have to change our businesses through time. Talk about sustainability, but it’s what is the environment telling us today and how do we sustain ourselves into the future? I’m proud to say that for the past 50 years, our business model works. We hired a President three years ago, and he said to me one day, “What are our core values?” I said, “What’s that? I don’t know what core values are.” “Well, he said, “let’s sit down and define our core val- ues.” And everywhere you walk in our company, now we have our core values. But getting back to Tom Haire, he always said to us,

“Listen, if you take care of your employees and you take care of your customers, everything else is going to take care of itself.” I can’t tell you how many times during the week, I think of that. Most important thing, change with the times. Change with the times and move forward and be a man of your word. McNay : None of us are really in the packaging busi- ness as much as we are in the people business. I think one of the things that’s changed over the last several de- cades is how much focus we need to put on engaging our employees early, especially right when they become an employee or a coworker. We make sure that we have a mentor or a coach there so we can get them embedded in our culture, that they begin to understand who we are and why we do what we do. In a lot of cases, for the first several decades, we talked about what we do and how we do it. We’ve pivoted a little bit now to who we are and why we do it. It’s a little different spin.
