Dow Names Finalists For 35th Packaging Innovation Awards BY GREG KISHBAUGH Dow has announced the finalists of the 35th Packaging Innovation Awards (PIA). The winners will be unveiled at an award ceremony on October 24, 2024, held in conjunction with Tokyo Pack. The Packaging Innovation Awards are the longest running inde- pendently judged awards created for, and by the packaging industry. Evaluated for their breakthroughs in technological advancement, sustainability and enhanced user experience, the finalists were identi- fied following a evaluation process that took place this June.
XSYS Acquires MacDermid Graphics
XSYS, a global integrated solutions provider to the flexographic, letterpress and pre-press printing markets, has entered into a definitive agreement with Element Solutions Inc. under which XSYS will acquire certain shares and assets held by subsidiaries of Element Solu-
tions Inc, comprising the MacDermid Graphics Solutions business for an enterprise value of approximately $325 million. The transaction has been approved by the Board of Directors of both companies and is subject to regulatory approvals and custom- ary closing conditions. XSYS also announce a change in leader- ship at XSYS. Departing Group CEO Oliver Dohn has played a key role during his tenure in driving profitable growth and setting a new strategic growth and innovation agenda for XSYS. Dohn has now decided to pursue oth- er endeavors. The Board has appointed Dr. Alexander Unterschütz as the new Group CEO in order to spearhead XSYS’s next growth chapter. Dr. Unterschütz most recently led the Compo- nents business at Linde Engineering. Prior to his 14 years at Linde, he worked as a manage- ment consultant with McKinsey & Company.
“This year, the Packaging Innovation Awards had the privilege of re- ceiving over 300 submissions from across the world – a record-break- ing number of entries that has almost doubled since the previous edi- tion,” said Daniella Souza Miranda, Global Marketing Director, Dow. The following 28 finalists will be recognized as individual Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or Special Award winners.
