The Lakes South Morang College Newsletter COLLEGE CONNECTIONS
A NEW ERA FOR OUR COLLEGE HOUSES
The Lakes is excited to announce a meaningful change to our House system. Previously, our Houses were named after Australian sporting heroes. While this reflected achievements in sport, it limited the broader relevance of the House system we envision—one that spans across all aspects of school life. To better reflect our local area, history, and commitment to cultural revitalisation, we have adopted Woi - wurrung names, with permission from the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation. These names connect deeply to Country and provide a more adaptable foundation for all areas of learning and community - building within our College.
We are currently collaborating with an Indigenous artist to visually embed these new House names throughout our College, ensuring they become a strong and lasting part of our identity. We look forward to embracing these changes and strengthening our connection to culture, community, and learning.
