Preparing Chicken Breast Chicken is an extremely versatile ingredient that can be cooked in a variety of ways. Three popular and simple ways to prepare healthy and delicious chicken breast at home include poaching, baking, and sautéing. These methods allow you to maximize flavor while minimizing added fats. Make sure to allow the chicken breast to rest for 5 minutes after cooking, so that the meat stays juicy and tender.
Sautéed Chicken (1 – 2 Servings)
INGREDIENTS 1 – 2 chicken breasts Kosher salt and pepper Olive or avocado oil
INSTRUCTIONS 1. Before cooking chicken breasts, make sure they are trimmed of excess fat. If you prefer a thinner chicken breast, they can be sliced thin prior to cooking. 2. You can also place chicken breasts between two pieces of parchment paper, or between plastic wrap, and gently pound until desired thickness. 3. If using thin sliced chicken breast, reduce cooking time by 2 minutes. 4. Season the chicken breasts with a pinch of salt and few cracks of pepper.
5. Pre-heat a sauté pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. 6. Add 1 – 2 teaspoons of oil, wait 30 seconds so the oil can heat up and add the chicken breast smooth side down. 7. Allow to cook undisturbed for 4 minutes, flip and cook another 4 – 5 minutes. 8. Remove from pan, allow to rest 3–5 minutes, and enjoy.
