Speaker Biographies

JJ Drake - Entergy JJ. Drake is the Flee Chemistry Manager at Entergy, a position he has held since 2019. JJ has been employed by Entergy for 22 years. He has held various positions starting in 2000 as a Chemistry/Environmental Technician at White Bluff SES. In 2004 he was appointed Chemistry Supervisor at White Bluff, and held this position until 2012. From 2012-2014 he was Process Superintendent for Hot Spring Energy Facility and then went on to become Process Owner Hot Spring, Calcasieu, and Acadia. From 2015 until 2017, he was Production Superintendent at Attala, then became Plant Manager at Gerald Andrus until 2019.

Adam Simkowski - MISO Adam Simkowski is responsible for meeting MISO’s operational load and renewable energy forecasting needs. Adam’s load forecasts are used in MISO’s resource commitment and dispatch processes to balance supply and demand. Adam is leveraging his meteorological background to determine how weather can impact load and renewable generation in a way to reduce uncertainty for MISO’s control room operations. He tracks load forecast accuracy and provides recommendations for process improvements and enhancements. Prior to working at MISO, Adam worked as a meteorologist supporting Power and Natural Gas trading desks at ACES, an energy services company, for 9 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Applied Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
