Maria B. Haney - SERC Maria Haney is the Manager of SERC Reliability Corporation’s Situation Awareness and Events Analysis Program. Maria joined SERC in 2007 and served in many roles within SERC and the ERO. She’s facilitated, chaired and represented SERC on multiple stakeholder teams and committees (e.g. various SERC Technical Committees, ERO Reliability Assessment, Situation Awareness, Events Analysis, Crisis Management, IT and Security Groups) to assess and promote the reliability of electric grid operations in North America. Her contributions in the industry ranges from reliability assessments, transmission analysis, events analysis, situation awareness, performance analysis, risk management and special policy projects and initiatives. Maria worked alongside multiple stakeholder teams to develop and address recommendations resulting from multiple severe events on the bulk power system. This includes the February 2021 cold weather event in Texas and the south-central U.S., where she served as a member on the joint FERC-NERC-Regional Entity team. Prior to joining SERC in 2007, Maria served as a transmission planner and project manager at the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Southern Company. Maria holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. She is a licensed engineer in North Carolina, a certified Project Manager Professional, and Risk Management Society - Risk Management Professional
