Dual Credit Dual credit courses are Ivy Tech classes taught by credentialed teachers in high schools that count as college credits. Offerings vary by high school, and expectations are higher as they are college-level. Students that take advantage of dual credit opportunities get a head start on their college career and save on tuition. Additionally, this opportunity allows students to meet the Indiana Core 40 diploma requirements with technical or academic honors. Dual Enrollment Dual enrollment allows students to earn college credits while still in high school. Participants benefit from an early college experience, getting the same benefits as Ivy Tech students. Wraparound support is provided with a holistic advising approach, with courses taught by Ivy Tech instructors. Tuition is Ivy Tech’s standard tuition rate, which is the lowest in the state. In addition, students can choose to take courses within the Indiana College Core (30 transferable general education courses) or career and technical education courses (i.e., courses that lead to high-value certificates and high-wage careers). Ivy Tech partners with charter and private schools to provide dual enrollment and dual credit in conjunction with their curriculum to enrich the academic experience for their high school students. Find contact information and application at IvyTech.edu/Dual-Credit. K-14 Concurrent Enrollment Programming
What our students are saying “Dual credit courses were an excellent way for me to proactively finish high school while getting a head start on college. The work was a challenge, but it wasn’t too difficult. My experience taught me how to adjust my study habits and organizational skills for the rigor of college. My dual credit college courses brought me closer to my goal of an associate degree in liberal arts.
QY J. FOX Dual credit student
By the time I finished high school, I had earned 18 credit hours. Technically, I’m one-third of the way toward an associate degree. I could earn my degree in about one year. I saved time, and my parents were happy about saving money on tuition. My only regret is being hesitant to begin taking dual credit courses. If I had started sooner, I could have finished my first year of college during high school.”

Diversity, Equity & Belonging +Community Engagement
The department of Diversity, Equity, Belonging, and Community Engagement at Ivy Tech Indianapolis strives to support the mission of the College through four pillars. These pillars serve as the foundation for all the work coming out of the department and drive partnerships, programs, and initiatives.
1. Build intentional external relationships
Breaking down barriers in the community through building trust and meeting learners wherever they may be; including community, nonprofit and faith-based organizations. This will be achieved by building intentional relationships with organizations within our three-county service area; this includes committee work, intentional sponsorships, and having key staff and faculty present at community events. 2. Eliminate equity barriers for student success The second pillar focuses on eliminating barriers to student success. But to eliminate the barriers, we must identify what those barriers are, both inside and outside the classroom, by evaluating the operating environment. We will facilitate proactive systemic improvements through this pillar by developing training opportunities for faculty knowledge and skill development to create more inclusive classrooms and teaching practices. We will also partner with other members of the cabinet to look at the data and identify areas of opportunity for equity in retention and completion.

Diversity, Equity & Belonging +Community Engagement
3. Create a culture of belonging for all students
From the moment a person chooses Ivy Tech, we want them to feel that they belong here. We will create intentional inclusive spaces that reflect the student body (including the Center for Intercultural Excellence) through culturally relevant programming, diverse art and images, and accessible physical areas to ensure that diversity, equity, and belonging are woven into all aspects of the student experience.
We aim for students to see themselves at Ivy Tech Indy, and we will create opportunities for students to share their voices through different platforms, including completing an annual campus climate survey that informs future policies and practices for the student experience or speaking confidentially to our Student Ombuds about any concerns or complaints a student may be experiencing.
4. Attract and retain top talent that reflects the diverse student body
As the most diverse campus in the Ivy Tech system, we strive to have a workforce that reflects the diversity of our student body. As such, we aim to ensure that our open positions are posted in diverse publications and with a diverse community organization at the local and national levels. We will work to identify 2-3 competencies that are required for every hiring committee to include in their search process and work with HR to provide relevant diversity questions at all search levels. We will also develop employee resource groups to increase a sense of belonging and employee engagement.
