3. Create a culture of belonging for all students

From the moment a person chooses Ivy Tech, we want them to feel that they belong here. We will create intentional inclusive spaces that reflect the student body (including the Center for Intercultural Excellence) through culturally relevant programming, diverse art and images, and accessible physical areas to ensure that diversity, equity, and belonging are woven into all aspects of the student experience.

We aim for students to see themselves at Ivy Tech Indy, and we will create opportunities for students to share their voices through different platforms, including completing an annual campus climate survey that informs future policies and practices for the student experience or speaking confidentially to our Student Ombuds about any concerns or complaints a student may be experiencing.

4. Attract and retain top talent that reflects the diverse student body

As the most diverse campus in the Ivy Tech system, we strive to have a workforce that reflects the diversity of our student body. As such, we aim to ensure that our open positions are posted in diverse publications and with a diverse community organization at the local and national levels. We will work to identify 2-3 competencies that are required for every hiring committee to include in their search process and work with HR to provide relevant diversity questions at all search levels. We will also develop employee resource groups to increase a sense of belonging and employee engagement.
