Office Safety
Handling Workplace Injuries/Accidents Workplace injuries can happen to anyone , regardless of job title. They can also happen at any time during the working day, so it is important to be prepared on how to handle these situations properly in a timely manner. Please see the steps laid out below that should be followed when a workplace injury/accident takes place. Procedure 1. Workplace Injury/Accident takes place. • Can be any of the following but not limited to; body part caught in office equipment, slip/trip/fall, etc. 2. Determine the severity of the injury/accident and what care is needed. • Emergency services should be called immediately if employees are in potential life threating situations. Examples: Obvious broken bone , loss of consciousness, loss of a body part , etc. • MedCor (Triage Nurse) should be called in situations that are not immediate emergencies such
as twisted ankles, hurt backs, etc. MedCor will advise what type of treatment is needed. • Please contact Noah Nulph (863-400- 5374) ASAP in these situations. He will call MedCor with the injured worker. • All employees getting outside treatment should have a Worker’s Compensation Info Card sent with them if the injury is work - related.
3. Report injury/accident to Compliance (Safety). • For reporting and handling purposes, Compliance (Safety/Risk Services) needs to be aware of injuries/accidents immediately. 4. Drug test and paperwork needed. • Most workplace injuries/accidents require a post drug test for all employees involved. Compliance (Safety) can assist with setting this up. • An Accident/Illness Report needs completed by the employee’s supervisor and sent back to Compliance as soon as time allows. • Any pictures or other information gathered is important to provide as well
• Please contact Compliance (Safety/Risk Services) with any questions regarding the above procedure.
