Snapshot of Russell 2010 launched

shot of Russell over the course of one year. That book is now printed and A Snapshot of Russell 2010 was launched at the Russell Library on Saturday, July 27. “Russell was changing so fast,” says Wade. “Expansion at the curling rink, arena, high schools, hous- ing, water supply, pumping station, subdiv- isions and on and on.” Wade took her idea to Cherry Bekkers of the RVWI. Bekkers was a keen supporter and the RVWI was about to celebrate a 75th anniversary in 2012. WIs keep an annual Tweedsmuir history book, but there is only one copy, often handwrit-

The cheque was received at the WI’s 75th an- niversary party and delivered by MP Pierre Lemieux. “I recorded information and more than a dozen other seniors contributed by tele- phoning, writing, interviewing and taking pictures,” says Wade. “We tried to include life, sports, schools, churches, seniors, and businesses. Other community members

contributed stories, photos, and time to edit or proof read.”
