Our People Fuel Our Success SaskEnergy’s continued success in delivering safe and reliable energy to Saskatchewan residents and businesses is thanks to the hard work and dedication of our team of more than 1,200 employees across the province. Providing a safe, inclusive and engaging workplace that offers opportunities for growth is key to attracting and retaining staff that are able to perform at their best and contribute to our future. We are proud to be one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers and strive to offer a work environment where all ideas are valued, respected and welcomed. Nearly 70 per cent of SaskEnergy’s employees are members of UNIFOR Local 649 and, in 2023-24, SaskEnergy and UNIFOR agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement, covering a three-year period from February 1, 2023, to January 31, 2026.
Safety is our top priority Safety is embedded into everything we do at SaskEnergy — at all levels within our organization and at all locations where our teams work. Our personal safety, the safety of our teams and the safety of the public can never be compromised. It is our goal to see every employee go home safely at the end of each day. Our commitment to safety is reflected in our corporate Safety Management Program (SMP), which complies with Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety regulations, as well as Canadian Energy Regulator Onshore Pipeline Regulations. Our SMP exists to assess risks, set safety goals, and establish mitigation controls. In addition, it facilitates employee training with respect to safety processes, regulations and procedures. Our approach to safety includes the measurement of both leading and lagging indicators, with an objective of continuous improvement in safety-related work practices and results. An audit of our SMP is conducted every three years to assess compliance with federal and provincial regulations, with the next audit scheduled for 2024-25. SaskEnergy’s total recordable injury frequency rate (TRIF) was 1.7 in 2023-24, meaning there were 1.7 recordable injures for every 100 full-time employees. This result was better than our target of 1.8 and matches last year’s result, which was our third-lowest TRIF in company history. The injury severity rate, which measures the severity of an injury based on the number of lost workdays, was 29 in 2023-24.
