Providing a rewarding experience for our employees We are committed to providing an employee experience that will attract, retain and engage the people who drive SaskEnergy’s success. A positive corporate culture, supportive managers, trust in leadership and opportunities to perform meaningful work are some of the key factors of employee experience. Every two years, SaskEnergy conducts a formal corporate employee engagement survey to understand employee perceptions of SaskEnergy’s work environment, career development, culture and company vision. While 2023-24 was a non-survey year, leadership teams from across the company continue to track progress in priority areas identified within the last survey, including organizational culture, growth and development, recognition, and our systems and resources. SaskEnergy was once again proud to be named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, along with recognition of being one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers. Published annually by Mediacorp Canada Inc. since 2000, Canada’s Top 100 Employers is an editorial competition that recognizes the nation’s best places to work. This year, the judges cited our formal remote work program, our increased duration of maternity and parental leave for new and adoptive parents, as well as the defined contribution pension plan and retirement planning assistance we provide as some of their reasons to recognize SaskEnergy. Professional and personal development SaskEnergy’s employee training and development initiatives prepare our workforce for the future, allow us to achieve stronger business outcomes, and enhance our ability to recruit and retain talented individuals. We promote a development framework comprised of on-the-job learning, learning through interaction and collaboration, and formal learning. More than 500 training sessions are provided to our employees every year and, in 2023-24, each employee received an average of 32 hours of training, which ranged from compliance and technical training to safety and leadership training.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM ASSISTS EMPLOYEES IN FURTHERING THEIR SKILLS AND CAREERS As part of our commitment to the professional development of our employees, SaskEnergy offers an educational support program that provides permanent employees with financial assistance for courses or programs that are part of a certificate, diploma or degree program from an accredited educational institution. Courses or programs must benefit employees in their current job or prepare them for other positions within the company. Eligible expenses include tuition, required textbooks, exam fees, required software, study guides and institution application fees. Full-time employees are eligible for reimbursement of up to five classes per year, and part-time employees are eligible for reimbursement of two classes per year. On average, SaskEnergy employees complete 100 courses each year through this program.
