Our leadership training programs support the personal and professional skill development of current and emerging leaders throughout SaskEnergy. One program, for employees at all levels of the organization, focuses on emotional intelligence and supports succession planning. We also have a manager development program to enhance leadership capabilities and create organizational alignment among our management team. All supervisors attend these in-person and virtual sessions, which are held regularly throughout the year, with topics ranging from expectations of managers to values-based leadership and the role of managers in employee engagement and retention. Teams throughout the organization also facilitated learning sessions to build a future-ready workforce. Workshops that were held throughout 2023-24 included: · Continuous Improvement 101, which is hands-on training to gain an understanding of continuous improvement and how it can be used in the workplace. · Microsoft Copilot “bootcamp” to assist with navigating Copilot to enhance productivity and efficiency, improve writing skills and optimize content, and boost creativity. · Artificial intelligence (AI) workshops to identify and prioritize problems or opportunities that come with using AI. Employee health and wellness SaskEnergy is committed to providing valuable health and wellness support to our employees. The well-being of our people contributes to a healthier, safer, and more productive work environment. In 2023-24, we moved to a new employee family assistance program (EFAP) provider, which provides a variety of health and wellness support services to employees and their families. In addition, we offered flu shot clinics at our largest offices, the opportunity for employees to attend a nutrition clinic at our head office, and a fun month-long fitness challenge for employees across the province. A number of lunch and learn events on various health and wellness topics were offered throughout the year, with topics ranging from mental health in the workplace to psychological hygiene and building working relationships. Regular wellness-related articles are also shared with all staff through our corporate intranet. Diversity and inclusion We take pride in our people. Recognizing that individual differences strengthen our organization, SaskEnergy promotes and encourages a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. We also foster constructive relationships and focus on providing a positive, professional and respectful work environment. Through the attraction, retention and development of skilled employees, we strive to have a workforce that reflects Saskatchewan’s diverse population. Our success is built on hiring employees whose skills and abilities contribute to our business goals and reflect the communities in which we live and work. Recruitment continued to be a focus area for our diversity and inclusion strategy and, in 2023-24, our diversity candidate hiring increased 5.5 per cent compared to the previous year. SaskEnergy continues to work toward increasing the representation of youth in our workforce through offering opportunities such as flexible schedules, continuous learning, and summer student and co-op work placements. We also have a robust accommodation process in place to remove barriers in the workplace for those with disabilities.
