1. The Gift of Life. The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Rom. 6:23). The Crown of Life. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him (Jas. 1:12). 2. The Gift of Righteousness. For if by one man’s offense death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Christ Jesus (Rom. 5:17). The Crown of Righteousness. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing (2 Tim. 4:8). 3. The Gift of Glory. The glory which Thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one (Jno. 17:22). The Crown of Glory. When the Chief Shepherd shall ap pear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away (1 Pet. 5:4). Note: The gift in each case has to do with salvation. The crown in each case is symbolic of reward. —o— A part F rom G od ’ s W ord 1. We know nothing of the beginning of things. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do ap pear. (Heb. 11:3). 2. We know nothing of the end of things. The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass. (Rev. 1:1). 3. We know nothing of the true God. Canst thou by searching find out God? Canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? He is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know? (Job 11:7-8). 4. We know nothing, of the things of God. As it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His spirit. (1 Cor. 2:9-10). 5. We know nothing of Christ’s saving work. These are written that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name. (John 20:31).

1. None for the wicked. There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked. (Isa. 48:22). 2 . Procured at the Cross. Having made peace through the blood of His cross. (Col. 1:20). 3. Preached in the Gospel. How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things (Rom. 10:15). ' 4. Secured in Christ. He is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the mid dle wall of partition between us. (Eph. 2:14). 5. Assured by the Word. Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Rom. 5:1). F ixedness of G od ’ s W ord 1. It is settled in its source. Thy Word is settled in heaven (Psa. 119:89). 2. It is satisfying in its contents. Thy Word was unto me the joy and re joicing of my heart (Jer. 15:16). 3. It is sure in its promises. I will hasten My Word to perform it. (Jer. 1 :12). 4. It is soul-saving in its certainty. The engrafted Word which is able to save your souls (James 1:21). 5. It is secure in its guidance. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet (Psa. 119:105). 6. It is sanctifying in its influence. Sanctified by the Word of God (1 Tim. 4:5). 7. It is supreme in God’s estimation. Thou hast magnified Thy Word above all Thy Name (Psa. 138:2). ¡ n r a E. M, — o — C hrist ’ s A ll -S ufficiency in P hilippians 1. Security guaranteed in Him. Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of
