tain. Now Peter and James and John were so tired they had fallen asleep while Jesus was praying. What a glorious sight met their eyes as they awoke and saw Jesus and the two men Moses and Elijah talking with Him, and the glory of God shining all about them. Then the two men disappeared as quietly as they came. Moses and Elijah talked with Jesus about the death oil the cross. Peter was so de lighted with this glorious sight, he wanted to build three tents—one for Jesus, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. Then the disciples became frightened as a great cloud overshadowed them. Then a voice spoke out of the cloud. Now if you will listen very carefully to the words that were spoken out of the cloud, I think you can tell who was speaking. These are the words the voice spoke: “This is my be loved Son : hear him.” Yes, it was God speaking of His Son Jesus. The Father is telling how He loved the Son, and ask ing us to hear all He (Jesus) speaks to us. Then all of a sudden all of this won derful glory and the cloud vanished. Only Jesus and the disciples were standing to gether. Some day Jesus is coming back in great glory and the clouds will be about Him then too. .While we can not see His great glory here on earth, there is some thing we can have, if we belong to Jesus, and obey Him. We can have His power in our lives to help us to do the things that are pleasing in His sight. Jesus is just as ready to show His power to us today as He was when Peter lived. We need His power to help us, for we are so weak ourselves. This wonderful scene on the mountain was just a little glimpse of His real beauty and glory. O, won’t it be a glorious time when all who love Him shall go to Heaven and see Jesus as He really is? Are you ready if He should come today, or should call you to come and live with Him? (Make this lesson an opportunity to teach them not to fear death for themselves or loved ones, if saved.)

THE TEST Elizabeth Cheney
A New Religion came to me With buoyant step and radiant smile, And at my door asked joyously Just to come in and chat awhile. Her jeweled hands were fair to see, Her white robe glistened in the sun, ’Twas quite agreeable to me To listen to her silver tongue. She spoke of health and wealth and peace, Of pleasure and prosperity, Of Love Divine that fills all space, The only great reality. Despite her look, her. smile, her speech, My spirit shrank, strange to remark, Like one whose groping fingers reach Some cold, dead thing amid the dark. “Give me,” I cried, “O stranger-guest, Before I entertain thy plea, An answer to this one request,— Dost come, by way of Calvary?” Swift changed her eyes from noon to night, Her smile to cold, superior scorn; She vanished on my wondering sight, But left me neither sad nor lorn. A shining Presence filled my room, A voice divine spoke peace to me, A person full of Truth and Grace, Who came by way of Calvary.
some older person who knows the way, and can look after us and care for us. We have had sev eral stories about Peter, and today in our story we are going to hear about a wonderful trip up on t h e mountain,
over in the Holy Land, where Jesus lived when on earth. Jesus took Peter and two of the other disciples, James and John with Him upon the mountain. Let us bow our heads and thank our Heaven ly Father for the beautiful world He has placed us in. Lesson Story : (Spend a little more time on the review of the Easter lesson, stressing the fact that we have a living Christ.) What a wonderful trip it was for Peter, James and John to go up on this high mountain with Jesus. They would look down its steep sides and over the beautiful valley below. It was a very high mountain, and its snow capped peak could be seen a long distance. Jesus went up in the mountain to pray. (See Luke 9:28-36). Very likely it was in the evening with the darkness coming on. As Jesus was praying a great change came over Him. His face shone, and His clothes became white and glistening. Then two men talked with Jesus, who were Moses and Elijah. We know that Moses and Elijah lived a long time before Jesus came as a little baby, and had been in Heaven a long time. They appeared in glory and talked with Jesus on the moun
