Jaime Beer, CRNA assumed the role of Lead CRNA in August 2023. In this capacity, she not only leads the anesthesia team, but also takes on the responsibility of precepting students and serving as a student coordinator. Her commitment to education and mentorship ensures that the next generation of CRNAs is well-prepared to meet the demands of the profession.
Keegan McDonnell, CRNA joined Boston Medical Center in 2013, and has since been an integral part of the Department in her role as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
Keegan earned her B.S. in Nursing in 2008 from the University of New Hampshire. She then went on to work as a registered nurse in the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit at Duke University Hospital and completed her M.S. in Nursing Anesthesia at Boston College in 2013. Keegan works closely with Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) during their rotations at Boston Medical Center and enjoys mentoring these future anesthesia providers. In the Fall of 2020, she took on the role of co-clinical coordinator – in this role, she is responsible for ensuring that each SRNA is paired daily with a preceptor (CRNA or physician) to gain invaluable experience and be best prepared to work as CRNAs after their graduation. Keegan is committed to ensuring that each SRNA experiences a variety of cases, preceptors and patients to challenge their critical thinking and technical skills. In the Fall of 2020, Keegan also took on the role of Co-Lead CRNA. In this role, she works to represent all the CRNAs in our Department. She strives to foster a positive working relationship between the CRNAs, physicians and administrative team in the Department of Anesthesia. Keegan, in concert with Jaime Beer, CRNA, are working to recruit and retain a strong team of CRNAs. She works to promote work-life balance amongst the CRNAs, while also staffing the department appropriately. When Keegan is not in the operating room, she enjoys spending time outside with her husband and two children, biking, hiking, or boating. While less frequent these days, she is enjoys baking and loves to see the happiness her macarons, cakes and other treats bring to people.
Jaime Beer is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with a distinguished career in nursing and anesthesia. Jaime grew up in Indiana, beginning her academic journey at Purdue University and earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her early career was marked by five years of invaluable experience working in the ICU and PICU at UCLA Santa Monica, where she honed her critical care skills and developed a strong foundation in patient care. Pursuing her passion for anesthesia, Jaime attended Boston College for graduate school, earning a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia. Her advanced education equipped her with specialized knowledge and expertise, propelling her into a successful career in the field of nurse anesthesia. For the past eight years, Jaime has been an integral part of the anesthesia team at Boston Medical Center. In her role as a CRNA, she has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in providing anesthesia care, ensuring patient safety, and contributing to the overall success of the operating environment. Her dedication, skill, and compassionate approach have made her a respected and valued member of the healthcare community. In addition to her clinical duties, Jaime has actively contributed to the Boston University Medical Group (BUMG) by serving on the Gender Equity Committee over the past four years. She has also been a vital member of the ENT and Neurology High Performance Team, where her expertise and insight have assisted in improving efficiency and safety. Outside of her professional life, Jaime enjoys spending time with her children, husband, and her puppy, Penelope. She is an active member of the Rapid Sequence Runners, a group of anesthesia colleagues who share a passion for running. Additionally, she loves boating, snow skiing, traveling, and exploring the vibrant city of Boston. Jaime Beer continues to exemplify excellence in nurse anesthesia through her leadership, clinical skills, and dedication to advancing gender equity and high-performance standards in healthcare. Her balanced approach to life and work reflects her commitment to both her profession and her personal well-being.
