Solomont SIMULATION CENTER

The Solomont Simulation Center is a multi-disciplinary learning center that provides healthcare providers at Boston Medical Center with immersive experiential training, serving as a key resource for the education of Anesthesiology residents and medical students. By leveraging the Center’s immersive environment, residents can develop and refine their clinical skills in a safe, controlled setting. Advanced simulation technology allows them to practice responding to a wide range of clinical scenarios, including unexpected emergencies within the operating room. The Center comprises three distinct areas: a simulated operating room, a control room, and an observation/ debriefing area. One-way mirrors enable unobtrusive observation of learners’ performance. The Solomont Center is equipped with a variety of adult and pediatric Laerdal equipment, including SimMan mannequins, as well as a dedicated anesthesia machine and hemodynamic monitors. Additionally, video recording and playback capabilities facilitate review and analysis. Simulation exercises are seamlessly integrated into the teaching curriculum, providing residents with regular opportunities to practice and refine their anesthesiology techniques, apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios, and develop crucial crisis-management skills.
