CHILI PEPPER Mexico’s most amazing avor Did you know that… Wilbur Scoville created a method to measure the heat of a pepper? It measures how much capsaicin it has. It is reported in Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
Chili peppers are the main ingredient in Mexican gastronomy. Why Are They Hot? Because they
contain a substance called capsaicin. It produces a burning
sensation in the mouth.
Chile comes from Nahuatl chilli.
There are more than 50 different varieties in Mexico.
