THE KING’S BUSINESS

% he was a sinner and that his family, all Christians, were anxious for him to be saved. “Whenever I get home they want me to go to the Mission church and want me to be saved. I’ve been thinking lately that I will become a Christian some day, and it grows on me.” He was afraid he would be un able to “hold out” so would not accept Christ. It was told him then that he could never hold out himself that he must let God hold on to him, as a father holds his child’s hand. He could see help there and finally confessed Christ as his personal Saviour. He promised to write to his family, and his face was bright and happy as he said, “They will be very happy and I’ll go to church now because it’s in me to go.” He was willing to testify for Christ on board the ship, and shook the worker’s hand warmly and was living in open sin, even immorality, slipped into an evening service where the preacher was speaking of God’s prompt for giveness of confessed sin. This was fol lowed by the communion, and when the em- blems of Christ’s broken body and shed blood were offered to this woman, a deep sense of unworthiness took possession of her. Convicted of sin and shame she stole out of the little chapel and would have gone home, but the Bible woman overtook her, and in a few moments both were back again in the chapel, kneeling in prayer. With contrition and confession of sin, the woman returned to her Lord, and after confession made also to the congregation, the bread and wine of communion were again brought forth, and amid prayer and praise this re turned prodigal received the tokens of the Saviour’s sacrifice for her sin, and she has since been faithful -in the study of His Word, and in testimony as to His power to save.— M. \ WOMAN who had once known the Lord, but who had wandered far away,

as he was handed something to help him in his 'Christian life. The Word was also opened to him, and he drank in every word and evidenced a clear understanding of the why and how of his salyation. We pray that God may richly bless him and his peo ple—those faithful, native Christians who held on in prayer .for him. He had a copy of the New Testament which, had been given him here some time ago. After reading it, he refused to go into the Roman church, as some of his Catholic relatives had de sired, saying that he did not so read the Bible. “Christ, he say ‘believe in Me and be saved,’ so I cannot believe in priests. I knew how to be saved, but would not do it, until now you spoke to me, and I knew I must be saved,”—is his way of expressing it. Pray for him. Last week I met an old lady, a Baptist, not attending church. When living in Riv erside she attended regularly, but because her clothes were not as good as those worn by some - other members, she said as time went'on she felt more and more out of place until finally she stopped going alto gether. Evidently she was not missed, as the church did not make an effort to learn the reason why she ceased going, neither was her husband visited in the sickness which followed. A Free Methodist minister calling in her neighbodhood, became inter ested in the old couple and called often, arid also gave them money. $ The husband died and the old lady came to Los Angeles, but through her experience would not go to any church. I showed her the danger of such an attitude and induced her to promise to attend South Park Baptist Church, and also took her address and said I would have a Baptist friend of mine call oh her. Going further up the street I found a back-slidden Baptist womap. After about an hour’s conversation with her, showing
