Did the cause of Rehoboam4prosper ? 2 Chron. 12:14. Was God’s covenant with the house of David? 2 Samuel 7:10-16. Will our David reign forever? Luke 1:32. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) Solomon had a thousand wives and one son, and he was a' fool. (2) Opportunity knocked at Rehoboam’s door, but he opened it not. (3) He took counsel from the old men and turned it down. He acted upon the counsel of the young men, and was turned down. . (4) A loyal leader will be a minister to men. (5) If you leave God out, you will be likely to be left out. (6) Dominion without wisdom becomes despotism. (7) Israel sinned in seeking a king." Now Israel must suffer the rule of a sinful king. . (8) The wages of sin are paid pro'mptly. (9) If any man lack wisdom, let'him ask of God.

What was the effect upon Israel? 1 Kings 14:22. (4) The Revolt of Israel, vs. 15, 16. The king refused to listen to the people, v. 15. The cause was the Lord’s, in fulfillment of prophecy, v. 15.
