(3) The Shameful Feast, vs. 32-33. Jeroboam ordered a new feast, v. 32. He changed thè time of God’s feast, v. 32. He put in charge his self-ordained priests, v. 32. He followed the device of his own heart, v. 33. Questions: Did God testify against Jeroboam by para lyzing his hand? ch. 13:4. By rendering his altar in twain? ch. 13:5. By promising evil against himself and his house? ch. 14:11. By promising to cut off his house? ch. 14:4; Amos 7 :9. By making his name a synonym for evil doing? ch. 15:30; 16:2; 22:52, 53. PRACTICAL POINTS (1) Jeroboam was far-sighted, but not faith-sighted. (2) He had a vivid, but vain, imagination. (3) Jeroboam was a great organizer, but it was not original ; it was Satanic. (4) His pretense of pity for the people was an appeal to the weakness of their nature. (5) Jeroboam went Aaron one better. He made two calves of gold, but he had to drink the dregs of his sin just the same. (6) He fixed up a feast which had no fa vor with God and left the hearts of the people famished. (7) He altered God’s altar; he profaned the priesthood ; he sacrificed the most sacred interests of God’s people to his selfish desire.’ (8) Jeroboam’s name is a synonym for sin.

What is the order of God’s ministry? Eph. 4:11-13. One temple for the manifestation of His glory. Heb. 1:3; Rev. 21:22. One festival for His saints. 1 Cor. 11: 23-26. One great admonition for His people. Ps. 96:9.
