Chapters on missionary motives and imperatives are followed by discus sions of preparation for the task. Mis sion boards and administration are dealt with fully. Excellent chapters on the various phases of missionary endeavor bring the book to its close with the responsibility of the local church and pastor. The bibliography will be found useful. 384 pages; cloth; Fleming H. Revell Co., West- wood, N.J.; $4.50. Avowedly this introduction is de signed “as a textbook in principles of Christian education for Bible schools, colleges and seminaries conducted in the evangelical tradition.” The public school, the Sunday school, adult edu cation — all come in for considera tion here. Suggested readings close each chapter. 176 pages; cloth; Flem ing H. Revell Co., Westwood, N.J.; $2.50. S tud ies in the Booh o f dam es By Stephen W. Paine The author, a past president of the National Association of Evangelicals, is president of Houghton College, Wesleyan Methodist school in the state of New York. The Epistle of James has been noticed by many ex positors in recent years, and here the reader will find one of the best expo sitions, albeit the author tends to recognize the possibility of the death in this life of the believer’s “carnal self-life.” 192 pages; cloth; Fleming H. Revell Co., Westwood, N.J.; $2.75. The K ing o f the Jem s By John R. Rice Many practical observations and applications will be found in this work, subtitled A Verse-by-Verse Commentary on The Gospel Accord ing to Matthew. Needless to say, the author is loyal to the inspired Word of God and envisions the imminent rapture of the Church with the mil lennial reign of Christ following the tribulation time and the rise of the man of sin. He does not seem to sense fully the contrasting character of CONTINUED Ab id ing V alu e s in C h ristian Education By Harold C. Mason

The author took degrees at Red lands University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Pasadena College after his graduation from the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. In this volume he has fulfilled his purpose of placing at the disposal of the Christian worker “without ex haustive study” the results of Bible archaeology. The book is well docu mented and indexed. 243 pages; cloth; Moody Press, Chicago, 111.; $3.95. The D oc trine of S a n c tific a tio n By Arthur W. Pink This is a careful study of the Bible truth of sanctification with a thor ough collation of all passages bearing upon it. Far from finding in the Scriptures sinless perfection in this life he sees in sanctification first, a setting apart of God’s people; second, an experimental daily cleansing of the believer; and third, an adoring or beautifying of the saints. 206 pages; cloth; Baker Book House, Grand Rap ids, Mich.; $3.00. E vangelistic Illu s tra tio n s F rom the B ib le By Fans Daniel Whitesell The Professor of Practical Theol ogy at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary adds a volume to his works on preaching. Under an alphabetical arrangement of headings, such as Acceptance by God, Access to God, Adulterers judged, and Adulterers saved, short references are listed. The illustrations included under the ap proximately 150 headings will prove of great practical use to the preacher. 212 pages; cloth; Zondervan Publish ing House, Grand Rapids, Mich.; $1.75. M issio n a ry P rin c ip le s and P ra c tic e By Harold Lindsell The m i s s i on a r y candidate, the prayer warrior for missions, young people seeking for guidance in regard to the sphere of Christian service, the missionary himself — all will profit from a careful study of these pages.

As Christians we owe the Jewish people a tremendous debt. Through Jews God’s Holy Word was revealed. Our Saviour was bom a Jew. Yet we have given them so little. Millions of Jewish people today do not even know that their Messiah, the Lord Jesus, died to save them. We can repay our debt by giving them the Gospel — now. Will you help us reach Jews with the Gospel message through the MESSAGE TO ISRAEL broadcasts from coast to coast and around the world, by mail and per sonal calls. Write for a free copy of our

magazine, “ MESSAGE TO ISRAEL.”
