Even though Moses had disobeyed the Lord, the water came from the rock to satisfy the people’s thirst. This was a very unusual rock and the water was unusual. In 1 Corin thians 10:4, we are told, . . for they drank of that spiritual Rock that fol lowed them: and that Rock was Christ.” The experience which the children of Israel had reminds us of what Jesus said in John 7:37, . . if any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.” Moses and the rock are gone, but Christ remains to satisfy the thirst of people today. OBJECT: A cardboard cross about 10 inches high. (Put a pin through the crossbar and upright, allowing the crossbar to swing around into an up right position. Cover the front with red paper. On the back of the upright, paste the shape of a snake cut from bronze paper. Begin the lesson with the crossbar parallel with the up right, and the back to the audience with the serpent showing.)
