OVERVIEW
Multifamily housing refers to residential buildings that contain multiple living units within one structure or development, including apartments, condominiums, mixed-use properties, and student or senior housing. These projects are essential to addressing the rising housing demand fueled by urban growth, population increases, affordability challenges, and the need to make better use of available land — applications where C&S Air Products solutions are ideal.

COMMON BLADE STYLES
Economical Roll-Formed Triple-V Grooved Blade
Low Profile Airfoil Blades for High Performance
FIRE-SMOKE DAMPERS Combination fire-smoke dampers provide both fire barrier protection and smoke control within a single life safety device. Building codes require fire-smoke dampers wherever ducts and air transfer openings penetrate fire resistance rated walls or floors that require both a fire damper and a smoke damper.
FSD-181 Airfoil Blade Fire / Smoke Damper
• 1½ to 3 Hour UL 555 Rating • Class I, II, and III UL 555S Ratings • Meets NFPA Standards • CSFM Listing
FSD-125R True Round Fire / Smoke Damper
Greenleaf Elementary School Oakland, California
FIRE DAMPERS Fir e dampers are fire protection products
used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning ducts to prevent the spread of fire inside the ductwork through fire-resistance-rated walls and floors. Building codes require fire dampers wherever ducts or air transfer openings penetrate fire-rated walls and floors to maintain compartment integrity. These dampers are available in dynamic models for systems where fans will remain on during a fire and static models when the fans. are shut down during a fire.
FD-120 Dynamic Fire Damper
• 1½ to 3 Hour UL 555 Rating • Meets NFPA Standards • CSFM Listing
FD4D Curtain-Style Blade Fire Damper
Fire dampers with curtain-style blades are a cost-saving solution to dynamic or static fire control.
SMOKE DAMPERS Smoke dampers provide a positive shutoff of HVAC ducts to help prevent the spread of smoke through an air control system. Building codes require smoke dampers where ducts and air transfer openings penetrate smoke-rated walls and floors.
• Class I, II, and III UL 555S Ratings • Horizontal and Vertical Blade Models • Meets NFPA Standards • CSFM Listing
SD-121 Triple-V Blade Smoke Damper
SD-25R True Round Smoke Damper
AIR CONTROL CONTROL DAMPERS AND BACKDRAFT DAMPERS Air control dampers regulate airflow through ductwork by opening and closing their blades. They feature automatic air control and manual balancing for low- to high-pressure and velocity applications. Backdraft dampers allow airflow in only one direction, preventing unwanted outside air and wind from entering the building, plenum, or built-up unit. CONTROL DAMPERS Control dampers are an integral part of every HVAC system. They are positioned manually or automatically to control air volume, pressure and temperature throughout the air handling system.
AC-45/46 Airfoil Blade Control Damper
AC-41/42 Triple-V Blade Control Damper
BACKDRAFT DAMPERS Backdraft dampers employ gravity-operated extruded-style blades to restrict reverse airflow while allowing air to flow freely in the intended direction. They can be mounted vertically or horizontally (airflow up) in either exhaust and intake installations.
COUNTERWEIGHT BACKDRAFT DAMPERS Counterw eight backdraft dampers offer more control over opening and closing mechanisms while providing reliability
BD-10 Backdraft Damper
CBD-230 Extruded-Style Blade Counterweight Backdraft Damper
LOUVERS
Louvers are air terminal or entry devices composed of multiple blades which, when mounted in an opening, permit airflow but inhibit the ingress of other elements. The type of louver that is selected depends on the application, geographic location, and local building codes. DRAINABLE, NON-DRAINABLE, WIND-DRIVEN RAIN AND SEVERE DUTY
DRAINABLE LOUVERS Drainable-blade louvers are designed to prevent water penetration in non-wind-driven rain applications by collecting water in frame and blade gutters and channeling it into downspouts and away from airflow paths.
ED-635 6" Deep 35° Drainable Louver
NON-DRAINABLE LOUVERS
Non-drainable louvers feature extruded aluminum blades and are designed for intake and exhaust applications where protection against water infiltration is not critical.
SEVERE-DUTY LOUVERS Severe-Duty louvers are engineered and tested to withstand extreme loads, debris impact and cyclic fatigue associated with the severe weather effects of hurricanes and other storm conditions. WIND-DRIVEN RAIN Wind-driven-rain louvers offer a traditional look and provide excellent protection against wind-driven rain under the most severe conditions. Designed to protect air intake and exhaust openings in building exterior walls that are sensitive to the penetration of wind-driven rain.
