A “ =

1 never heard God had a Son.” Who said this? It was the incredulous statement of a Hindu upon hearing the Gospel for the first time. “ Oh,” you say, “ that is quite under standable. There are millions in India who have never heard the message of Christ. Of course they believe in some kind of a God, but they are still a long way from hearing the true story of God’s Son. “ I never heard that God had a Son until I was forty five years of age.” Another Hindu you say. You are wrong there. It was said by a popular vaudeville actor in our own United States; and when he heard the Gos pel, he received Christ as his Saviour. Where did he hear the story? In Church? No, wrong again, he heard the story in a prison cell. The Chap lain outside his cell could not kneel beside him in prayer. Bars prevented that. But he got the message and that is the main thing. Once he heard about God’s Son and His love for sin ners, he asked Him to come into his life. He did. Now he has a ringing testimony. He said, “ I thought the words ‘Jesus Christ’ were only swear words. No one ever told me different.” I wonder how many others there are in America who have never heard about God’s Son. I am certain that it runs into the millions. How are they going to hear about Him? One thing is clear, someone will have to tell them. Just think of the thrill that awaits them when they hear the story and have the joy of becoming new creatures in Christ! Are you telling the story to those who have never heard? You will be surprised to find that often it will be someone you rub elbows with every day. But the responsibility as well as the glorious privilege is yours. What if they don’t respond? Leave that to God and to them. At least they will
have heard and you will have cleared your spiritual calendar. To whom can you tell the story about God’s Son? Everyone is a poten tial candidate: your neighbor, a chance acquaintance, a fellow work er, someone with whom you do busi ness. So you see, it can be anyone. IT'S ON LY A TRACT It's only a tract. You may tear it And crumple it up in your hand; The wind, as it passes, may bear it And scatter it over the land. It's only a tract. You may spurn it And deem it unworthy of thought; May ridicule, trample, and burn it, Despise it and set it at naught. It's only a tract, but it telleth Of holiness, happiness, Heaven; Where God in eternity dwelleth— With sinners His love hath forgiven. Often times the one you least suspect will be the most likely candidate. If you do not know the person’s name, just list them as “ the man at the oil station” “ the gardner,” etc. Pray that you may have an oppor tunity to tell them the story. Then, after you have told them, pray that the Word may take root and bring forth fruit unto eternal life. After you have told them the Gospel story they will never be able to say: “ I never once heard that God had a Son.”
