When Senior Directors 8 Wickie and Blake Williamson qualified for the Car Bonus in 1990, they were able to do something that never would have happened on their combined teachers’ salaries—they bought a brand-new, 25th-anniversary-edition convertible Mustang. “We decided to go crazy and get something fun!” says Blake. Nearly 30 years later, Blake and Wickie reflect on the memories they’ve made with the Mustang— the first of nine cars they’ve purchased with their Melaleuca Car Bonus. Some of their fondest memories include driving it from Colorado to Florida for vacation, letting their daughter drive it in high school, and restoring it after it was totaled in an accident. Since purchasing the Mustang, Blake and Wickie have purchased more-practical cars. Most recently they purchased a brand-new Subaru Impreza that they drove home from Convention 2018. Amongst friends, family, acquaintances, and those enrolled in their organization, the Williamsons are known as the family with the new cars. They are often asked about what car they’re going to get next.
“I love the fact that I didn’t have to worry about whether or not I had a car that worked,” Wickie says. “I’ve been able to always have a car with the most up-to-date safety features and best gas mileage.” Four of the nine cars Wickie and Blake have purchased are still in the family—their son owns the Ford Escape they had. “We were both teachers,” Wickie says. “We never would have gotten a new car like that convertible—or as many new cars. It wasn’t in the budget. Without Melaleuca, we might have gotten only one brand-new car in the past nearly 30 years!”
