Q. Most people want to enjoy their summer and grow their Melaleuca business. Can you do both?

The answer was unanimous—you do have time to enjoy summer when you work smart. Focus on doing the Seven Critical Business-Building Activities first thing every day, have an accountability partner, and remember that everyone still needs Melaleuca products. Absolutely!

“Summer is a precious time. We should enjoy that time with our family and our community,” Trish says. “The reality is we can do enjoy summer and smartly work our Melaleuca business at the same time. If we focus on accountability, we can carve out that hour a day to set the appointments we need and then go enjoy our summer. So many times people think that they can’t do both, but accountability teaches us we can.” Diane adds, “Choose an accountability partner. Pick someone who will help you stick with it. Pick someone who’s going to challenge you and make you go outside your comfort zone.” For Erin, working through the summer is all about how willing you are to commit to your decisions. “Make a commitment to yourself to just show up every single day throughout the summer,” she says. “Make it fun! Have your own little Fast Track.

The summer is the perfect time to build.” Melissa builds her business through the summer by choosing not to waste the time she has on things that don’t matter. “Why would you want to spend the summer taking time off when you know that it doesn’t take many hours of your day to achieve your goal?” she asks. “You just need to stay consistent. Give yourself that one hour working in the morning and then be available in the evening to help someone set up their shopping ac- count and place their order. We spend the same amount of time every day watching TV or taking a bubble bath or whatever. When you shorten those things up, you’ll find you still have time for Melaleuca.” Judith reminds herself that life doesn’t stop just because it’s summer. “People still brush their teeth and wash their clothes,” she says. “People still need to earn money and pay bills. No one goes away for the whole

summer. I’m going to make more calls and treat the summer as though it was any other day of the month or month of the year. I’m not going to use summer as an excuse to do less.” Rhonda keeps her why in mind all summer long. “It is easy in the summer to get dis- tracted,” she warns. “It’s beautiful weather and you want to be outside. But when you keep your why in mind and ask, ‘What’s my Melaleuca business going to do for me?’ you keep reporting and remembering to make connections. You will say to yourself, ‘I’m at this summer event, I need to make a connection.’ And then with that, you start being prepared—for instance—by sticking a Renew ® Lotion in your purse that you can give someone.”

Q. What can practicing daily accountability do for your business?

“Being accountable to someone other than yourself is different,” Rhonda says. “You let yourself down because nobody else knows. You say, ‘I’m going to make ten calls tonight,’ and when it doesn’t happen, you say, ‘Oh well, I didn’t do ten, but I’ll do it tomorrow.’ It’s hard to be accountable to yourself, but when you’ve got a team or group that you’re accountable to, it makes you do that little extra 10% that perhaps you would not have done.” Judith explains how accountability helped her balance a busy schedule. “I have a full

time medical practice that has been expand- ing and it’s been very time consuming,” she says. “I found that with Fast Track, focusing and being accountable to someone other than myself helped me look at my time differently. I found that I had more time than I thought I did. And I replaced emotional reactions to things in my life with actual income-produc- ing activities. “My mindset is so much different now. I thought I had it all together, but Fast Track has taught me there is so much more to learn about. I’m better at calendaring my time,

being focused on my leadership, and seeing leadership in others.” Dianne saw how accountability helps you do more than you thought possible. “I learned that you need to make more calls and enroll more families to actually grow your business,” she says. “The first month of Fast Track, I didn’t work as hard because I was traveling and I only had one enroll- ment. I worked hard, and in March I had 10 enrollments!”
