FALCONRY EXPERIENCE
Bede’s Falconry Experience Academy offers students the unique opportunity to learn the ancient art of falconry in the stunning historical setting of Herstmonceux Castle. Under the guidance of expert falconers, students will gain hands-on experience with a variety of birds of prey, learning about their care, training, and hunting techniques. This immersive experience connects students with nature while offering them a chance to develop patience, focus, and a deep appreciation for these majestic creatures.
OBJECTIVES • To teach students the fundamentals of falconry, including bird handling, training techniques, and the history of the practice • To provide hands-on experience with a variety of birds of prey, allowing students to learn about their behaviours, care, and hunting methods • To promote safety and responsibility by educating students on proper bird handling, equipment use, and safety protocols during falconry sessions • To enhance students’ understanding of wildlife conservation by exploring the role of falconry in the protection and preservation of birds of prey species • To develop patience and focus as students engage in the slow, methodical training process required for successful falconry • To foster a deep appreciation for birds of prey and their natural behaviours, encouraging respect for wildlife and the environment.
