ESSAY WRITING
Bede’s Essay Writing Academy teaches more than grammar and spelling. Students learn key writing structures for specific genres, and how to organise their ideas as well as the language needed to present and support those ideas in a logical and engaging way. FURTHER INFORMATION This academy is a great opportunity for test-takers who may benefit from the extra writing practice. The skills learnt are directly applicable and help students to think about their audience and appropriate content. This Academy is particularly helpful for students preparing for language exams.
OBJECTIVES • To demonstrate and apply basic knowledge of essay structures in English • To learn to write concise and grammatically correct sentences • To develop a sense of coherence from the beginning to the end of an essay • To learn useful keywords and structures for essay writing • To develop a personalised style of writing • To understand the differences between academic and informal writing • To develop self-confidence and improve communication skills.
