• The smaller the decision-making team, the better. • The key to M&A success is the ability to wade through the BS and make decisions quickly! • Communication skills are critical. First impressions, prompt responses, and polite, professional dealings build trust and rapport. • Be flexible and strategic yet opportunistic in developing your criteria. No firm is perfect, and there are tradeoffs to everything. • Lay it on thick during the courtship phase - don’t forget that your job as a buyer is to “sell” the idea to a target.
